IN HONOR OF BEATLE GEORGE HARRISON AND HIS LOVE OF HUMOR

Today’s comic strip was inspired by George Harrison, the immensely talented musician and songwriter who was a member of the iconic band, the Beatles. George’s contributions to the music industry are immeasurable, and his influence can still be felt today. As a guitarist, his unique style and melodic sensibilities added depth and richness to the band’s sound.

Born on February 25, 1943, in Liverpool, England, George Harrison was not only a gifted musician but also a profound songwriter. He penned some of the Beatles’ most beloved songs, such as “Here Comes the Sun,” “Something,” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” These timeless compositions showcased his ability to weave heartfelt lyrics with captivating melodies, capturing the hearts of millions around the world.

George’s influence extended beyond his work with the Beatles, as he embarked on a successful solo career following the band’s breakup in 1970. His solo albums, including “All Things Must Pass” and “Cloud Nine,” showcased his musical growth and exploration as he ventured into different genres, incorporating elements of rock, folk, and Indian classical music.

Aside from his musical pursuits, George Harrison was also known for his spiritual journey and exploration of Eastern philosophies. His deep interest in Indian culture led him to learn the sitar, which he flawlessly integrated into songs like “Norwegian Wood” and “Within You Without You.” He even traveled to India to study under the guidance of renowned sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.
