Today’s comic strip has a little unsettling truth behind the joke. To truly get ahead in life, sometimes you have to cheat just a little. Cheating is the only way I have been able to maintain my diet. I reward myself weekly with some chocolate. In order to get people excited about my successful comic strip, I exaggerate the numbers a bit. Charmy’s Army has seen impressive numbers lately.

I love comic strips where every panel is different. This adds a dimension of illusion that something different is happening from panel to panel. It means a ton of extra work for the cartoonist, but the results are stunning. So many comic strips have all their panels looking like a photoshopped cop-out. They look so lazy. My third panel literally jumps out at you when Charmy’s poker opponent attempts to choke out Charmy. If every panel was the same, this shot would not have any impact at all.

HAPPY 2021

I was going to use this post to opening announce my goals for the new year. I decided not to. Last year, I made some bold goals which all fell flat in the wake of the pandemic. I only made one appearance at a comic con in February, weeks before everything went crazy. I invested $1400 into show appearances last year, which is money I will not see back. Being in the hole that badly means that I may not be making many appearances this year… should I have an opportunity to even make a comic con appearance.

I am praying that 2021 will be good for all of us.
