INKtober DAY 12 – Oogie Boogie

I have not been particularly fond of my own work until this year. I have consistently struggled with the rigidity of my characters. Two years ago, I made a conscious effort to address this issue. Gradually, my art has progressed to a new and thrilling level. I now find myself eager to create—whether it be drawing or any other form of expression—each and every day.

The perspective here adds an exciting “pop” to the drawing. I intentionally kept the tossing hand understated to ensure that the focus remains solely on the dice. I aimed for a loose appearance with the dice, deliberately opting out of using a ruler for the lines or a circle template for the dots, allowing for a rough, authentic look. If the dice were meticulously drawn with straight edges and precise circles, they would merely resemble clip art juxtaposed against a finely inked drawing. Embracing imperfection can often yield the most perfect results.

This will begin a series of Nightmare Before Christmas sketch cards for INKtober! I need to have this set ready to sell at Tyler Comic Con in a few weeks so I am about to kick this INKtober into overdrive. Stay TOON’ed for more!!!!
