Okay, her plane did NOT nearly crash. I have been reading a ton of blogs where I have been drawn to the article because of some insane headline I saw online. I figured I would try exaggerating to see if it would help draw in more readers. That said, she did have one heck of a plain ride the other night!
Speaking of WILD RIDES, the last few days I have been on my own roller coaster as I prep for my next show. I have created 9 new sketch covers! I am trying for 10 covers but time is running out. I am going all in for Bell County Comic Con this time. I must make money this time. I have been breaking even show after show and I want to end this six month run of shows with at least ONE profitable show. I seriously do not know how any of these artists in artists alley do this, lol.
Today’s comic strip was written ON AN AIRPLANE! I was headed to Louisville, Kentucky to demo a product for my day job when we hit a little disturbance after about an hour into the flight. I immediately began scribbling and doodling away. It always takes about 5 to 15 minutes for the joke to evolve into something I can use. This one took a little less than 5 minutes.
On the plane over to that demo, I was imagining I was headed to a big comic con. The thought of getting my comic strip syndicated makes me yearn to do a tour across the United States. I wish more cartoonists would try making appearances at these comic cons. I make appearances all the time and I have a blast meeting the few readers I see from show to show. You must remember, I am not a household name like a syndicated cartoonist is. Syndication makes a HUGE difference.
Quick update on my syndication efforts… I shoud be receiving my form letter from Creators soon. That form letter is a rejection letter and always comes back after two weeks. That deadline should be days away. I have NOT mailed in my submissions to Go Comics or King Features yet. I have been so busy prepping for Bell County Comic Con. I will get them both mailed out in two weeks.
Gotta run and finish prepping for next weekend’s comic con!
