Meet Davy at BrazCon in Manvel, Texas on Saturday, February 23rd

Hello everyone! I am super excited to announce that I have been asked to sit on a panel at BrazCon to discuss cartooning and illustration at BrazCon in Manvel, Texas on February 23, 2018. I will be joined on the panel with illustrator Ryan Shaw. Together, we will answer all of your questions and hopefully entertain and educate the crowd while having a ton of fun.

I sat on my first panel two years ago along with the great Sam De La Rosa and two other artists. I was so scared… but all was good. The questions all went to Sam of course. I was so relieved. Sitting on the panel was just the ice breaker I needed. If I had to answer any questions, I know I would have screwed up, lol. Most questions revolved around Sam’s days inking Venon for Marvel comics. I was so honored to just be on the same stage as Sam who is the second nicest comic book artist I have met.

Second best? Yes, the NICEST person I have had the THRILL to meet and become friends with is Doug Hazlewood, inker for many DC titles. I was a HUGE fan of his in the 90’s when he inked Animal Man. Meeting Doug was the highlight of my Amazing Houston Comic Con experience a few years ago. Doug is also a fan of Cheap Trick like me… so he is the most awesome cartoonist I know.

I diverse. Let’s get back to my panel experience. I have only sat on two. The second panel I sat on was last December at Nerd Fest Comic Con. The panel was awesome. Every question went out for the four panelists to answer so I was right in the mix. Hearing people laugh at my silly remarks was magic. Feeling the energy of the crowd was electrifying. Inspiring a room full of dreamers was the most rewarding experience I have every been blessed with at a comic con.

Afterwards, I returned to my table. A gentleman walked up to thank me for the most enjoyable panel he had attended. He said that we put on the most fun and upbeat panel he had ever witnessed and that the chemistry of the panelists was remarkable. The other three panelists were Mostafa Moussa, Travis Huffman, and Darrian Sullivan. Mostafa inks for Marvel and DC, Travis is a writer and publisher. Darrian is a cartoonist like me with two successful strips. All have more talent in their little toes than I possess.

I hope to bring the same energy to BrazCon for this panel. I am hearing that it will run at 11:30, but these panels always change at the last minute. Pop by my table early for updates.
