INKtober Day 18 – Blue as Lurch
I had three options in mind for casting this role of Lurch using the characters from my comic strip Charmy’s Army. My shortlist from my cast of characters included Sarge, Doc and Blue. Sarge was too stocky to be believable in the role. Doc was never considered because once I pictured Blue in the mashup, I knew he was perfect. For starters Blue is always depressed so his character fit the bill. Blue is also tall and lanky, again fitting the bill.
All I could think about as I drew this was Lurch crying over his lost harpsichord. That is my favorite episode ever from the original television series. The episode “Lurch and his Harpsichord” originally aired on March 19th, 1965. It is amazing how long ago that was. I look at television now and there is so many poor shows on the air. I miss sitcoms. I miss laugh tracks. I never thought I would miss laugh tracks, but I do.
I am expanding my INKtober drawings to include the entire cast from The Addams Family. I hop to get everything drawn up over the next few days so I can concentrate on Alamo City Comic Con setup. This weekend is going to be insanely busy!
INKtober has been a blast so far. I hope you are all enjoying it as much as I am!
