INKtober Day 12 – Weaver as Mick Jagger

Charmy and Frenchy can’t get all of the fun. Weaver Wood is just as good as both Charmy and Frenchy when it comes to mashing up pop culture icons. No person in rock and roll history is MORE iconic than the topic of today’s mashup, Mick Jagger.

Between Mick Jagger’s hair, eyes and… um… large smile…, Mick’s likeness is pretty easy to capture. The other characteristic which ensures that Mick Jagger stands out are his original poses Mick uses during his performance. Mick was flamboyant a decade before the glam rock movement made it cool.

I had hoped to knock out a week’s worth of drawings today for INKtober because I have a huge show at the end of October. I had taken the day off from work to ink in my newspaper deadlines and do INKtober drawings until I passed out tonight. I had an emergency pop up at work that I had to attend to early this morning and actually ended up working the rest of the day… and a little late at that. My day job is the bread winner for me. As much as I dream of being a cartoonist, I am only pulling in $80 each month from the newspapers. Cartooning is never going to be my day job at the rate I am going. So, when duty calls, I answer.

There is something to be said for my father’s generation. He grew up where one was dedicated to their job… and you loved it and respected everyone you work with. I am proud to say that I also mirror that pride for my employment. Every job I ever had, I have always been dedicated to the industry, my responsibilities and to my work family. To be honest, I have never loved a job more! Yes, I was very disappointed that I had to give up my day off, but that job is my life. Cartooning is just a dream.

That said, if a syndicate wants to pick me up… well, who knows how things may change!
