I LOVE DC COMICS!

I know some of you…. MANY of you… will say I am insane, but I love all of the movies in the DC Universe…. expect for Green Lantern. That movie was weak. I loved Man of Steel, Batman V Superman and Justice League. I know so many of you hate those three movies because there were some editing issues, sappy dialog and confusing foreshadowing in a few scenes. I watched these movies through the eyes of a guy who has dreamed of the DC producing a dark series of movies all leading up to an epic Justice League conclusion. Seriously, these were the movies I have dreamed up since I was a kid. I loved the campy Batman show from the 60’s and the goofy Super Friends, but even as a small kid, I wanted to see something darker.

I have always been a bit different.

So this leads me to this past weekend’s release of trailers for Aquaman and Shazam look amazing! So long as the CGI doesn’t trap Aquaman into the same cheesy look and feel Green Lantern had, this movie should be awesome. The story of Arthur Curry is amazing and is a tale that needs to be made into an epic movie. When I was a kid, the Saturday morning cartoon show called Super Friends made Aquaman out to be a wimpy hero.If wasn’t until in early eighties. when I began to read the Justice League comic book. that I learned how awesome this meta human was. Then in the early 90’s Aquaman was rebooted with his own title and Arthur Curry saw full redemption.

Also in the 90’s we all saw DC comics rebooting Justice League with an amazing take on Billy Batson and Shazam. I always thought a solo comic from Shazam in the 90’s would be awesome, but what do I know. All I know if that when I was a kid, my generation had a Shazam television show where Billy traveled around the country with his creepy uncle in a shady-looking RV. I have no idea how this orphan found his “uncle”. I also had no idea why he wasn’t in school. It just all seemed a bit off. Considering how small the budget was for any of these shows, we were happy to get what ever the networks gave us. I am so excited to see what DC Comics will give us.

Now, if I can only get DC Comics to take a look at my DC Puny-verse Reburp pitch…. The world needs the Just ANTS League. Man, that movie would be awesome……
