Countdown City Comic Con in the Books

One more appearance in the books! I want to welcome everyone new to my website. WELCOME!!! The show was a lot of fun. I got to meet a few artists I have not had the time to talk with in the past. I also had a lot of time to spend with Mr Morris creator Rick Brooks. The show itself was a bit slow… attendance was super small. The few attendees I talked with were cool. The tiny crowd was not spending money and most vendors gave up and left halfway through the show on Sunday.

Not me.

I am always committed to my appearances. If the show goes bad, I stay put. By four o’clock the 5 or 6 people wandering around had no one see. When I book a show or a show books me, I am there to entertain the crowd until the show is over. Those few people who were left were awesome. They all thanked me for sticking around. I explained that the reason I am here is not to make money. I am promoting my brand and giving you an experience to remember. That is what I do.

It was a first year show, that is par for the course at most first year shows. They are risky. It takes a few years for some of those shows to build an audience. I will go again next year and support this show. The promoter and the volunteers were amazing.

The only issue I had about the weekend was that I caught food poisoning… REALLY bad too! I was actually feeling bad halfway through the show Sunday and yet I stuck it out until the show ended. On the way home from San Antonio to Houston, I experienced a two and a half hour delay in Columbus!!!! Talk about a bad predicament!!!!! I was so sick. I kept asking myself if all this work is worth it. I finally got home after one in the morning and was up all night… feverish and just sick as a dog. Then at 7:00, I was off to the day job.

Dedication to my art and my day job.

My day job is amazing and my bosses are all so supportive of my dream. Of course, I just call it a “hobby” when I speak to them about what I do. To be honest, the chance of my getting syndicated is so slim. In my mind though, I am determined to be syndicated one day.

I will be back in San Antonio in October at Alamo City Comic Con. I must do well there this year. I am hoping to make that show an annual event for me. I must make a profit this time at Alamo City though in order to make this show one of my homes. I did pretty well at Alamo City Comic Con last time, but just enough to cover my table and one night in the hotel. I stayed three days so the hit was pretty hard.

So to update my shows so far this year, I am in the hole once again. The last two shows I appeared at took me for some big losses, but four of the other shows had small profits and Comicpalooza was a huge show for me. If my next show, Bell County is just a little better than last year, I will be in the green for the first time in 5 years!

The future looks so bright!!!!!!
