Sorry for delay! I know I drop my blog on Sunday evenings unless I have a comic con appearance. When I have an appearance, I always drop the post on Monday. This week I did not get to this blog until tonight… Tuesday. Last night was the 25th anniversary of Monday Night RAW and I did not want to miss a second of the action. To be honest, the show was not as good as I had hoped.

I had a great time at the show. My table was right in front of the stage so I watched all of the panels. The bad news though was that the crowd around the stage impacted sales. I did not make any sales from the start of the first Kids’ Cosplay competition at noon, through all of the panels, and before the last adult cosplay contest ended at 6:00. I did great between 11:00 and noon that first day, but once the shows began, I was toast on Saturday.
Sunday turned out to be a great day. The attendance was a lot smaller so the crowds at the shows did not block me and people could access my table. Sales were good for a Sunday. Sadly, I did not break even with only one day of sales. I was hoping not to start the year out with a big loss, but that is the way it goes. I am learning that bad placement will just kill you. I have had many shows where my placement knocked me out of competition. I also have seen where amazing placement gives you amazing exposure and great sales. You must take the good with the bad.
The show was a ton of fun. I met some amazing people. I love meeting the attendees at these shows. I am so happy to hear the other artists came out great. I hear that everyone at least broke even, or did a bit over. That is always great news. The promoters and volunteers were helpful as well. I wish I had time to talk with the other artists. Working solo at my table does not allow me time to socialize. I only get to mingle with the tables next to me and, for whatever reason, I am never seated next to another artist. I really hate that dumb luck. I am always placed next to a jewelry vendor or some odd craftsmen. A few rare occasions I have been blessed to be right next to a talented artist like Rosel Rodriguez at Amazing Houston or Mark Kistler at STX. Every other time I am next to someone selling necklaces or tiny hats.
Next on the tour schedule is BrazCon in Pearland, Texas. If you are in the Houston area, come out and see me!!!! Next year, I am probably going to cut the number of shows down to two…. maybe three appearances so I can focus on money making efforts like books and landing more newspapers.
