Charmy as John Lennon

I am a HUGE fan of The Beatles. I was hoping someone would suggest the greatest rock band in history. I will be doing a Sgt. Pepper version of these legends because that was the request.

Is this my favorite album? No, but I do love the album. My favorite Beatles album is Revolver because it has a great mix of styles. It is just amazing. There is not a single album by the Beatles that I do not love. Every album they created touched my life in some way or another.

Today’s #INKtober drawing features a #maskup of Charmy, Star of my comic strip Charmy’s Army, with the late, great John Lennon. We all wonder what he would have accomplished by now if he was not brutally murdered in 1980. I have thought about this long and hard. Here is what I believe would have happened.

Double Fantasy would still have been a huge hit but the critics would have beat up on John for having Yoko on half of the album. He would follow up Double Fantasy with Milk and Honey with Yoko again performing half of the songs. Milk and Honey would have been so different too. I always felt the album was poorly mixed.

From there, John would release albums completely solo. This would up McCartney’s game too, making McCartney’s Pipes of Peace and Tug of War much better albums. McCartney made amazing albums when he had competition from John. The competition would have John and Paul releasing amazing albums for decades.

When Linda passes away, I always wondered how John would have reacted. I want to think John would have flown out to be with Paul and that they would have mended any fences that were down. I do not believe this would have sparked any collaboration. There was never any need to prove anything. There was no need to relive the past.

The Anthology Series would still happen a few years later than originally released. The four Beatles would get together to work on the album and make a few songs with ailing George Harrison who was by now fighting cancer. I do not believe they would have ever gotten back together any other way. I know some people thought they would have all performed at Live Aid, but I just do not believe it. They would however get back together one last time for George.

The Concert for George would have seen John, Paul and Ringo performing one last time together. Paul would still sing All Things Must Pass, For You Blue and Somthing. Ringo would still have sung Honey Don’t and Photograph. John would have sung Wah Wah, My Sweet Lord and Here Comes the Sun.

If John were alive today, he would still be writing and recording. I even think he would have done a duet with Miley Cyrus… I love Miley. I think John would have too. I do not think he’d be touring. I actually believe he’d be ribbing Paul for touring so much.
