Zana as Marilyn Munster

What an #INKtober surprise for me! I actually had a reader ask for Zana to be mashed up with Marilyn Munster. Zana has appeared in only two of my comic strips! I never thought anyone would request a mash up of Zana with anything.

On the one hand I was so happy… but on the other hand, I was scared to death. I have only drawn Zana a few times. How can I mash up a character I am only learning to draw with a pop icon? Well, the results speak for themselves! Zana’s parody impression is perfect!

I chose the first actress who portrayed Marilyn Munster. As with Darrin on Bewitched, there were TWO actors portraying Marilyn. The firs actress, Beverly Bowen, was the best in my opinion even though she only appeared in 13 episodes. She had a raw grit to her performance where the second Marilyn, Pat Priest, performance felt fake. With Beverly, I really felt sorry for the “ugly” Munster. With Pat, I felt she was underplaying the part and she felt fake.

Yes, I take my 60’s sitcoms way too seriously.

This concludes my INKtober tribute to The Munsters. I hope you enjoyed them all as much as I enjoyed inking them up. I need more mash up suggestions. Let’s save The Addams Family for INKtober 2018… but I am game for anything else…
