Charmy’s Army – September 4, 2017

09SEPT2017_CHARMY - WEEK 36 - 0903-0909 COLOR - STACK - Web

THANKS FOR EVERYONE’S CONCERNS!

I had a few dozen readers reach out to me over the past week asking if I weathered Hurricane Harvey okay, Yes, I was extremely Blessed. My streets flooded but not enough to do any damage. The neighborhoods around me though did not fair that well.

As bad as the situation is, we will rise. Houston and the surrounding cities are coming together and helping each other out. I am so very proud to be a native Texan. We are never going to let anything defeat us!

COMIC CON APPEARANCES!

Staple! Independent Media Expo – THIS WEEKEND!!!! – Yep, September 9th and 10th is still on my agenda. I will be at the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex in Austin, Texas promoting my comic strip and selling original art, prints and “stuff”. If you are in Austin, come check me out!!!!

Fandemic Tour – RESCHEDULED!!!! – Yes, the show in Houston had to be backed up. We are using all the convention centers as shelters. The organizers were able to to snag new dates on December 1-3 for the show! Plus they only lost two or three celebrities. That was no easy task to undertake and I applaud the promoters for their hard work. I am honored to be a part of this show and represent my home town of Houston.

SYNDICATION UPDATE!

I was preparing to launch in two newspapers but one paper has fallen through. I received notice today that the paper is folding before it began. The paper was going to showcase a ton of comic strips. The format would have been strictly entertainment. Several publishers have tried this and all have failed. This one failed before it printed its first paper.

The other newspaper I am working on is all set up. I am just awaiting my launch date. Hopefully I can announce something soon.

I am still hopeful that I will receive positive news from GoComics. If I can get that syndicate to pick me up, the sky will be the limit. What are my chances… I mean… Really? Well, I know I have no chance at ever getting picked up. My vision for my comic strip is so much broader and more profitable than anything GoComics currently syndicates… but convincing them to gamble on me is simply an impossible feat… but I refuse to accept defeat. If they pass on me again, I will just try again next year!

THIS WEEK’S STRIP!

So what do you think of the art on this week’s strip? I spent so much time on this. Then, I colored this as though it was being prepped for a comic book which meant more tomes and more textures. I spent about 8 hours inking and coloring just this one comic strip! The results are amazing so it was worth the extra effort.

This strip here has inspired me to work harder to bring you all a comic book. I am hoping to begin production on issue one in another month. My goal is to have a book ready by Comicpalooza next year. It will be funded by a Kickstarter Campaign which should begin in February.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK…
HAPPY LABOR DAY…
AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN AUSTIN AT STAPLE!

  1. I’m happy to hear you didn’t flood – we shared your good fortune, also. Your hard work paid off, amazing detail on this strip and can’t wait to see the next one.
