Meet the GREAT FLUDINI!
Here is the first appearance of THE GREAT FLUDINI in my comic strip Charmy’s Army. Frenchy’s alter ego is a magician and escape artist who studied under the legendary magician Hairy Gallstone who spotted Frenchy performing a few card tricks on a street corner. Truth be told, she was hustling her friends with a little Three Card Monte. Hairy wanted in on the scam and offered Frenchy some magic lessons in return for a part of the hustle.
The magic training began as a means to draw a crowd. Once a few death-defying tricks were performed and a large crowd was secured, the hustle would begin. Over time, the two became a huge attraction and they found they did not need to hustle people. They formed an act and was racking in the dough at all of the major Magic Theaters across the country.
Yes, these theaters do exist… though quite a few have vanished over the past couple of years.
At first, Frenchy was just the “lovely assistant”… until that fateful night that is. Only minutes before the curtain would open for their evening performance, Frenchy found a drunken Hairy Gallstone making his way to the stage. Frenchy convinced Hairy to play the “lovely assistance” and his drunken demeanor ended up playing out as “comedy gold”. The act would continue running with the roles reversed… and Harry being drunk every night. (Continued…)

Davy’s Attempt to Become Syndicated!
Syndication is the goal. The chances are slim to none of ever making it… but the alure of one day being a REAL cartoonist is just too tempting. I can never give up on my dream, no matter how poor the odds may be.
I have a large following from all of my Comic Con appearances. That is so cool. I wish the audience was bigger, but the small crowd is still very motivating. I spend a few thousand dollars every year on these shows. Table fees…. hotel expenses… and making more merchandise is extremely expensive and adds up quickly. I lose a few hundred bucks at most of these shows…. and I break even at a few of the local shows. I gain readers at every show making the investment worth the spend.
On top of gaining fans across Texas, I am having a blast. I love traveling around the great state of Texas, eating kolaches in the hill country, meeting established artists with rich history, and talking with my friends I have made in artists alley. I love hearing about the success the other artists have seen so I can live my dream through their stories.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the first appearance of Frenchy as The Great Fludini in my comic strip Charmy’s Army!
