Candy’s Corner: The Story Behind the Pie Latte
Hello, caffeine crew! It’s Candy Kane, your favorite barista and owner of The Candy Bar, here with a little slice of heaven for your coffee cups. Today, I’m sharing one of my most popular post-Holiday creations: the Pie Latte—an apple pie-flavored latte that tastes like a hug in a mug!
But first, let me tell you how this masterpiece was born.
The Story Behind the Pie Latte
It was a crisp autumn day, and I was brainstorming new drink ideas while dodging Charmy’s endless string of terrible puns. (“Hey Candy, do you know why are we all so attracted to your coffee? Because it’s brew-tiful!” See what I mean?)
Frenchy had just waltzed in, talking about some crazy pie-eating contest she wanted to join—don’t ask. Weaver, meanwhile, was tinkering with some gizmo in the corner, and Flimp the Chimp was happily “Oop app oop”-ing over a cinnamon stick he’d swiped from the counter.
That’s when it hit me: everyone loves pie, and everyone loves coffee—why not combine the two? I wanted something cozy and comforting but with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. So, I grabbed my ingredients, worked a little magic, and voilà—the Pie Latte was born!
It was an instant hit. Even Charmy, who insists his taste buds are too sophisticated for “frou-frou drinks,” guzzled down a cup (though he refused to admit he liked it).
Just after inspiration struck, Turtle walked in talking about his New Year’s resolution which was to get into better shape. He enrolled in a Pilates class. After he admitted that and the laughter died down, I realized he just gifted me the perfect name for this recipe… the Pie Latte. I only offer this after Christmas and for two months afterwards. I figured, you break your resolutions by then, so that would be the reasoning for sunsetting the drink until the following New Year.
Candy’s Pie Latte Recipe

Now, because I love you all, I’m sharing the recipe for this fall-inspired coffee drink so you can enjoy this little piece of heaven at home. Trust me, it’s easy as pie!… and a true DIY flavored latte.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk (or your favorite non-dairy alternative)
- 1/2 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee
- 2 tablespoons apple pie filling (blended until smooth)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional but highly recommended!)
- A dash of extra cinnamon for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat the milk: In a small saucepan, heat your milk until it’s warm but not boiling. Use a milk frother if you want that café-style foam!
- Blend the flavors: Stir in the blended apple pie filling, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
- Combine: Pour the espresso or coffee into your favorite mug, then slowly add the milk mixture, letting it swirl together like a little caffeinated dance.
- Top it off: Add a generous dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top for that perfect finishing touch.
- Sip and enjoy: Take a moment to savor the warm, spicy, apple-pie goodness!
