In this week’s comic strip, the Candy Bar detective agency takes a bizarre romantic detour. Charmy brings a sweet, green-haired girl over to the counter for intense questioning regarding Doc’s disappearance. When she innocently confesses that she doesn’t even know who “Doc” is, the bartender demands to know why Charmy thinks this poor girl is remotely connected to the crime. Charmy furiously reveals that she’s a thief because she stole his heart! Realizing the utter insanity of the situation, the girl nervously asks if she can go, and the bartender urges her to run for her life!

The afternoon sun was beginning to dip, casting amber hues across the dusty military installation, but inside The Candy Bar, the mood was thick with dramatic interrogation. Charmy had retreated into the camp barracks an hour earlier and returned with what he proudly referred to as a “person of extreme interest.”

Sitting nervously on the wooden barstool was a lovely ant girl with vibrant mint-green hair, clutching a small handbag in her lap. She looked around the counter with widening, bewildered eyes, shifting under the intense stares of Weaver, Frenchy, Flimp, and Charmy. Charmy stood on the stool beside her, a miniature yellow legal pad in one hand and a stubby pencil in the other, scribbling furiously despite writing nothing of actual substance.

“Let the record show that the subject is seated voluntarily, under heavy suspicion,” Charmy announced, pacing behind her stool with his coat billowing behind him. “State your name for the court.”

“Um… Lily,” she replied timidly, her voice barely louder than a whisper. “Look, mister, I really don’t know who this ‘Doc’ person is. I just moved to Fort Hill on Tuesday to work at the base post office. I haven’t even had time to get my Army dental checkup.”

Frenchy leaned over the bar, tapping her Etsy diploma against the counter like a judge’s gavel. “A convenient timeline! The crime occurred precisely within your window of arrival! What an astonishing coincidence!”

Flimp leaned forward from the register, narrowing his eyes and sniffing her handbag with deep primate skepticism before letting out a soft, conspiratorial whistle.

The bartender, who had been drying milkshake glasses, finally had enough. She set her rag down with an audible slap and planted both hands on the bar, glaring directly at Charmy. “Charmy Packy, explain this to me right now. Why on Earth do you think this sweet, innocent girl is remotely connected to Doc’s disappearance? She looks like she wouldn’t hurt a caterpillar!”

Charmy spun around, pointing an accusatory pencil directly at the green-haired girl, his eyes burning with intense theatrical conviction. “‘Cause she’s a thief!”

The room fell completely silent. Even Flimp stopped chattering.

“A thief?” Weaver repeated, scratching his antennae in confusion. “Wait, did she steal Doc’s medical bag? Did she steal the keys to the medicine cabinet?!”

“She stole my heart!” Charmy declared passionately, clutching his chest with both hands and stumbling backward against the stool as if overcome with emotional trauma. “Look at her! Walking into Fort Hill with those shimmering green antennae, that radiant smile, completely disarming my tactical defenses without a single permit! A criminal of passion! An outlaw of romance! The moment I saw her by the mailroom, my heart vanished into thin air! And if she’s capable of grand larceny against my cardiovascular system, who knows what else she’s stolen?!”

Weaver stared at his partner in complete disbelief, his jaw slack. “Charmy… you dragged a girl in here on federal abduction charges because you have a crush on her?!”

“It’s a high-level lead, Weaver! In detective work, emotional instincts are paramount!” Charmy insisted, pulling himself back up and trying to look dignified.

Lily looked horrified, her cheeks flushing bright crimson as she slid off the edge of the barstool toward the door. “Um… can I go now? Please?”

The bartender didn’t hesitate for a single second. She reached across the counter, pointing frantically toward the swinging double doors of the entrance. “Um, run, honey. Run as fast as your little legs can carry you and do not look back.”

Without waiting for another word, Lily bolted out of the bar, her footsteps clattering down the wooden porch outside until the sound faded completely into the distance.

Charmy reached out a hand toward the door, a look of profound heartbreak sweeping across his face. “Another lead… slipping through our fingers like fine sugar…”

“She wasn’t a lead, Charmy! You terrified her!” Weaver groaned, slumping over the counter in defeat. “Now we’re back to square one; we’ve embarrassed ourselves in front of the entire postal department, and Doc is still nowhere to be found!”

Frenchy pulled out her tiny doctor’s mirror, adjusting it on her forehead. “Well, on the bright side, if your heart was truly stolen, Charmy, my Etsy medical training qualifies me to perform open-cavity romantic surgery. I just need a plastic spork and some gauze!”

Before Charmy could protest the horrifying prospect of Frenchy operating on his thorax, the front door of The Candy Bar creaked open once more. Heavy footsteps echoed across the threshold. The team spun around, trench coats swirling, ready to confront whatever fresh twist fate had thrown their way.
