Here’s a hilarious comic strip from May 2018! The gang decides to go camping, but as luck would have it, they end up hopelessly lost in the wilderness. Charmy and Weaver get themselves into all sorts of trouble after separating from Frenchy, Flimp the Chimp, and Turtle. From getting stung by bees to catching poison ivy, and even getting drenched in a sewer’s run-off, it’s safe to say they had one eventful camping trip!

Meanwhile, Frenchy and her pals hop on a bus for a wine cruise and embark on a sightseeing adventure. They are spoiled, pampered, massaged, and stuffed with scrumptious treats fit for royalty. It’s like they stumbled into a spa day fit for royalty!

MY CAMPING MEMORIES – REAL LIFE

As a kid, we went camping every summer. No electricity. No air conditioning. It was AWESOME!!! My imagination ran wild. I carried a notebook and wrote stories and cartoons while I fished off the banks of Lake Sam Rayburn.

BUT HERE IS THE STORY I DID NOT WRITE! THIS IS BASED ON ACTUAL EVENTS.

My dad took me and my brother out in the boat one morning and we floated up to the bank of a deserted spot in the middle of nowhere. The bank was on a spot of land only accessible by boat. The area was also submerged for the past ten years or so.

Let me explain a bit better with some history. The lake was formed after the insertion of a dam as part of the Texas Reservoir system. Construction began on September 7, 1956, and the reservoir started serving its purpose on March 29, 1965. The main purposes of the reservoir are flood control, hydroelectric power generation, and water conservation. The reservoir was filled and the valley below was flooded.

Some areas, like the one we visited, were inaccessible due to the water’s depth. The current drought had the water level dipping very low, so this was “uncharted” territory. We walked out onto the bank to separate and fish separately… but we did not fish long at all.

My dad remarked, “Hey! Look at this! An arrowhead!”

I looked at my feet and saw two arrowheads. My brother was also finding arrowheads. We stopped what we were doing and took the boat back to camp and then escorted everyone back to our spot. We spent hours picking up TONS of arrowheads and broken pottery from hundreds of years ago!

BUT THAT IS STILL JUST THE BEGINNING!!!

Next thing you know I am pulling out a huge rock from the mud with this circular indentions. I washed it off and knew I found something awesome. Again, my imagination was running wild… and I told my dad, “Look! Here is the rock they made the arrowheads on! See, the indentions are groves from them chipping any at the flint”!

No one believed me. I made them keep it.

The following year, we were at the Old Stone Fort in Nacogdoches where a display of Native American arrowheads was on display.

“DAVY!”, my dad calls out in excitement. “Look. you were right! There is your rock!”

A big rock that was IDENTICAL to the one I found was on display. It was a rare block the Indians made arrowheads on!
