Meet the GREAT FLUDINI! (part two)

As mentioned in the last blog post, Frenchy and Hairy Gallstone created a popular magic act with Frenchy playing the role of the “lovely assistant”. Roles were reversed one evening when Hairy showed up drunk for a performance.

The curtain opened as the drunken Hairy stumbles behind Frenchy as she greets the crowd…

“Hello!”, welcomes Frenchy. “I am the Great….”

She pauses. “Who the heck am I?” ponders frenchy in here silent thoughts. She pans her eyes through the crowd. There is an old woman hacking and coughing. She is sweating and shaking like she is sick.

Frenchy continues and says, “Flu….” and then pauses again….

Panning the front row she sees two people drinking martinis…

Frenchy continues her introduction as she mutters, “Dini”.

Frenchy tightens it up and reintroduces herself… “That is right! You did NOT hear wrong. I really am the Great Fludini!… the world’s greatest magician.”

Frenchy continues, “And THIS… This is my lovely assistant… um…” She pauses. She could not introduce the legendary Hairy Gallstone by name. She looks into his bloodshot eyes and Hairy reacts…

“Tis I!” Hairy alerts the crowd. “People call me… Bella”. The crowd erupts with laughter.

Frenchy… I mean to say “The Great Fludini”… rolls through every magic trick and each daring escape performance flawlessly. Hairy… I mean Bella… kept the crowd in stitches with his drunken antics.

When the act was over, Fludini’s smile turned upside-down as she confronted Hairy about his behavior. She was fuming too… and Hairy just smiled as she cursed him out.

“I have a secret for you”, Harry confesses to The Great Fludini. “I have never drank alcohol in my entire life. I hate the stuff. I am actually as sober as a nun on Sunday. Tonight was my GREATEST trick of all…. and I had you completely fooled.”

“What?!?”, asks a totally confused Fludini.

“I passed the torch”, says Hairy. “Tonight I turned an assistant into a great magician. This was my greatest illusion ever…. only it was no illusion. You, my girl, are the real deal.”

And the legend is born.

I love this gag. Simple, silly and short. The three S’s for Success.

My writing has become much stronger lately. I am so very happy with the progress of my strip over the past few months. Now the next step is to crank this baby up and see how hard I can push myself. I have got to land a newspaper run soon!!!

Beginning in November, I am going to blow up this strip. This means more laughs for you. I am going to dedicate all of my free time to creating quality posts and better jokes.

Tell you neighbors and tell your friends. Charmy’s Army is going to be HUGE!!!!
